Bad news for Dr. Drew!
Dr. Drew Pinksy had to be hospitalized last night after coming down with Leptospirosis.
Drew and his wife Susan left on January 8th on a second honeymoon to the West Indies to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
Unfortunately, it seems he got sick while away as he took to his Twitter and posted the following today, just a day after arriving back in the US:
“Spent the night as a patient in the hospital. Seems I may have picked up Leptospirosis in the West Indies.This is just brutal.”
Leptospirosis is said to be contracted after ingesting water which has been contaminated with animal urine. It can also be contracted by simply coming in contact with the infected urine of an animal. Gag!
Once infected, flu-like symptoms can occur.
Here’s hoping Dr. Drew has a speedy recovery! Stay on those antibiotics!
