Last night’s episode of Desperate Housewives kinda caught fans by surprise!
Edie, the trouble making blonde bombshell played by Nicolette Sheridan, packed her bags and rode her convertible off into the sunset without a word about if she would (or would not) ever return.
Rumors of Sheridan’s departure have been circulating for weeks, but both ABC and Sheridan’s publicist have refused to address the rumors.
A character’s end is sooo season finale material.
Edie peaced out in the second to last show of the season! That’s why we’re so surprised.
However, creator and executive producer Marc Cherry was slightly more forthcoming.
He says, yes, Edie’s gone and “won’t be back for a few years.”
What could that mean?
So, Cherry was then asked if her return in “a few years” could have anything to do with another recent rumor that Desperate Housewives will adopt a “flash-forward” Lost-like narrative device, which could restore Edie’s presence on Wisteria Lane sooner than expected.
“I only address one rumor at a time…We’ll have to wait until next season and see,” Cherry replied.
