With lead singer Amy Lee leaving Evanescence to pursue a new path, fans wondered what the rest of the band would do.
Now, we know. They’ve fallen, or rather, changed their name to Fallen and have acquired a brand new leading lady: American Idol finalist Carly Smithson.
The Irish lass was a favorite among her Idol season and now joins the once adored rock group to create a new, yet familiar sound. Her band includes Evanescence guitarist and songwriter Ben Moody, drummer Rocky Gray, guitarist John Lecompt and bassist Marty O’Brian, the only other musician not in the original band.
We won’t get to hear any of the goods until Monday, when they release a free download of their first song on their website. We can’t imagine anyone else being able to keep up with the strength and power of Amy Lee’s vocals, but we’d liked to be pleasantly surprised.
