The Baldwins is officially here… and now that Hilaria Baldwin has more time to talk, she’s blowing minds with more than her fake accent!
In Sunday’s premiere episode of Alec Baldwin‘s new TLC show, he and his wife got into their personal history — including opening up about the conversations they had before tying the knot in 2012. Specifically, the classic prenup debate!

Remember, Alec was a rich and famous movie star long before he and the much younger yoga instructor got together. So he obviously had to ask for the prenuptial agreement. In a confessional, the 30 Rock alum recalled:
“After my first marriage [to Kim Basinger], I said, ‘Let’s have a prenup.’ She [Hilaria] wasn’t happy about it. It’s an awkward thing.”
The ersatz Spaniard — who was 27 at the time of the wedding, about half Alec’s age at the time — claimed she did “not understand quite what a prenup” was! But she didn’t really care — she was willing to sign whatever. She dished:
“Because you are like, ‘After a certain number of kids, it’s this.’ And I was like, ‘You know what? I’ll just sign it,’ which was probably very stupid of me back then.”
Uh, you think? Don’t sign something you don’t understand! Ever! This isn’t buying a phone, this is marriage! Get someone to look over this for you! It’s OK to be a fool in love, but don’t be foolish in love!
But that’s just the thing… Hilaria was being stupid like a fox here! We’re not sure we buy the idea she didn’t know what a prenup was. This was seven years after Gold Digger was the biggest song in the world. Hilaria was a 20-year-old Boston girl at that time. She didn’t hear effing Gold Digger in the club? In the gym? We’re dubious… Was this one of those things where she pretended not to be familiar with something because it was American?
In any case, while Hilaria may still be pushing her fake Spanish accent — including forgetting words other than prenup at times — she’s a well-educated woman born and raised in Boston who attended NYU. If she really didn’t know what a prenup was at the time, it wouldn’t have been very hard for her to find out before agreeing to anything! Just saying…
Whether she really didn’t knew what a prenup was or not, her tactic of playing dumb worked like a charm. Her willingness to sign no matter what caused Alec to change his mind! The yoga instructor appealed to his sense of romance:
“Now, I would read it again, but, like, I just said, ‘I won’t sign it. I don’t really want to think about the end by the beginning.’ And then you were like, ‘Yeah, I don’t want to do it either.’”
Really? That’s all it took, Alec?? Remember they have about a 26-year age gap. It’s not surprising he felt he needed to protect his assets ahead of the wedding — especially since there was already speculation she was only into him for his fame and money. But addressing this further in a chat with People earlier this month, Hilaria elaborated:
“We did not sign a prenup because — I said I would, and then you’re like, ‘Okay, we don’t have to.'”
The 30 Rock star claimed Hilaria “started to cry a little bit” — something she denies! She also joked about how signing a prenup would’ve gone “against my gold-digging values.” Jeez! She knows all about prenups now, doesn’t she??
