Hilaria Baldwin Says Faking Being Spanish Makes Her Normal -- LOLz!

Faking it?! Whaddya mean faking it??

Hilaria Baldwin is now doubling (tripling, quadrupling?) down on her supposed Spanish heritage and all the hilarious claims that came from that little controversy waaaaay back in 2020.

This coming Sunday night over on TLC, the world is finally going to see the premiere of her and husband Alec Baldwin‘s new reality show, The Baldwins. And in it, Hilaria takes the allegations she’s TOTALLY FAKING her Spanish identity or concocting some phony heritage head on.

People got a sneak peek at the couple’s new reality show on Thursday afternoon. The mag revealed in their early look, Hilaria steps into a confessional booth and says about embracing her, uh, identity:

“I love English, I also love Spanish, and when I mix the two it doesn’t make me inauthentic, and when I mix the two, that makes me normal.”

Uh, girl, WHAT?! “Normal”?? Does Boston-born Hillary seriously think the Spanish heritage she concocted out of thin air is “normal”?? Pretending to forget English words, despite growing up in the US apart from her rich family summering in Spain? Speaking in an accent despite not having one in high school, according to folks who knew her before she got famous? Oooookay!

Speaking of that super sus Spanish identity controversy, which is five years old at this point, Hilaria does make this unsettling remark on her fam’s new show:

“I’d be lying if I said [the controversy] didn’t make me sad and it didn’t hurt and it didn’t put me in dark places.”

Are those dark places facing mirrors, by any chance??

She then explains, per People, how sustained love from her family — as well as others in her community who “speak multiple languages” — has helped her push past the darkness:

“But it was my family, my friends, my community who speak multiple languages, who have belonged in multiple places and realize that we are a mix of all these different things and that’s going to have an impact on how we sound and an impact on how we articulate things and the words that we choose and our mannerisms.”

Seriously, though, please tell us by her “community” she means other New Yorkers she knows, and not, you know, Spanish-Americans??

She adds this little sound byte for good measure:

“That’s normal. That’s called being human.”

There she goes again with all that “normal” talk! Make it stop! Or at least make it make sense!!

In the end, Hilaria does also explain a bit about how her children are navigating this situation, as well. You know, the kids she’s given traditional Spanish names despite… again… growing up the child of a rich, white couple in Boston??

The answer seems to be that she’s going to make sure they don’t have a past to uncover. When it comes to Carmen Gabriela, 11, Rafael Thomas, 9, Leonardo Ángel Charles, 8, Romeo Alejandro David, 6, Eduardo Pao Lucas, 4, María Lucía Victoria, 3, and  Ilaria Catalina Irena, 2, she wants them to know Spanish right from the very beginning! She explains:

“I’m raising my kids to be bilingual, I was raised bilingual. My family — all my nuclear family — now lives over in Spain. I want to teach my kids pride in speaking more than one language. I think just growing up and speaking two languages is extremely special.”

Hey, there’s absolutely NOTHING wrong with being bilingual. In fact, we highly encourage it! Spanish especially has become crucial in many neighborhoods in the US.

But, like, come on girl. Just be real about your own personal background. That’s all we’re asking. That’s it!! Say you embraced Spanish culture and language because you love it… but ADMIT YOU ARE NOT SPANISH!

Anyways, ch-ch-check out more in a brand-new trailer TLC dropped for The Baldwins back on Wednesday:
