Vin Diesel got emotional remembering his late Fate and Furious co-star Paul Walker.
Before a screening at the Cannes Film Festival of the first film in honor of the 25th anniversary, the actor broke down while opening up about his close bond with Paul. He said inside the Grand Lumiere Theatre on Wednesday:
“I pray that in your life you have a brother like Paul.”
As you know, the She’s All That star died in a car accident at only 40 years old in November 2013. It’s a tragedy that still impacts Vin clearly to this day. He even admitted he finds it “hard” to watch their movie because of the memories with Paul — or Pablo:
“There’s so many moments in this movie that you see, that I see differently. The scene that you see, I see the moment Pablo told me he had a 1-year-old daughter.”
Vin is, of course, talking about Meadow Walker, who is his goddaughter. She attended the special event for her dad and supported The Pacifier star. She even hugged him as he got all choked up before he expressed:
“This is a film where brotherhood was introduced to our millennium, by myself and my brother Pablo. The person that was not going to let me come alone here to represent that brotherhood was Meadow Walker. I’m gonna go and shed a tear real quick.”
Aww! Vin continued:
“She said, ‘I’m 27, and I’m watching this film that my father made at 27,’ and I thought, ‘How profound.’ Meadow has been such a source of strength, and I know he’d be so proud of you.”
What a touching moment between them. Watch (below):
