Make that money, gurl!
Yesterday, we reported that Mariah Carey had OFFICIALLY signed on to judge American Idol for season twelve!
While originally, there were different numbers being thrown around about her new Idol salary, most recent reports are saying she’ll be getting a whopping $18 million paycheck!
If that number sounds familiar, it’s because J.Lo had sought out that SAME amount to stay on the show another year!
Of course, things didn’t end up working in Jennifer’s favor, as her option was not renewed by Fox.
However, if you think that Mariah getting granted Jenny├óΓé¼Γäós $2 million raise has left Mz. Lopez feeling some type of way about the diva — think again!
In a recent interview, when asked if Mariah would make a good judge, Jennifer responded:
“I think so, yeah! Why not? She’s a musician for a long time she has a lot of experience. And it’s that experience you offer them at the end of the day, the contestants just want to get better and grow through the process.”
Well played, Jenny, well played!
As for Jennifer’s advice to new judge Mimi?
“Just enjoy the journey. Just remember you’re there at the end of the day to help those contestants grow and to get to the end and to get to that finale.”
Oh boy…to say we are REALLY looking forward to seeing Mariah in that judge├óΓé¼Γäós seat would definitely be an understatement!
There├óΓé¼Γäós one thing, though, that Fox president Kevin Reilly wants to set straight — Mariah is NOT Jenny├óΓé¼Γäós replacement, as that was never their goal to do so!
The remaining judge position is set to be chosen within the next couple of weeks and it’s still not clear whether or not Idol vet, Randy Jackson, will return!
