Former MLB Star Arrested On Child Sex Abuse Charges!

John Wetteland Mugshot

Former MLB pitcher John Wetteland was arrested on Monday in Denton County, Texas on suspicion of felony child sex abuse, before he was later released on a $25,000 bond.
According to TMZ Sports, court documents allege that Wetteland committed multiple lewd acts on a victim under the age of 14 years old — and it gets even more graphic and disturbing.

The accuser is reportedly a male family member who claims that Wetteland “engaged in oral sex with him on 3 separate occasions between 2004 and 2006” when he was a “young child.” Ugh…
The actual booking charge for Wetteland is first degree felony continuous sex abuse of a child; if convicted, the charge could carry up to a LIFE term.
Wetteland may not be a household name to those outside the baseball community, but he was a BIG deal back in the day; the closer was the MVP of the 1996 World Series as a member of the New York Yankees, and he pitched for 12 years in the big leagues for them, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Montreal Expos, and the Texas Rangers.
For many of those years, he was the high-profile set-up man working ahead of future Hall of Fame reliever Mariano Rivera out of the Yankees’ bullpen.
Most recently, after his playing career ended, he had been the bullpen coach for Washington Nationals in 2006, and then again for the Seattle Mariners from 2008 to 2010.
