Though mostly known for her ULTRA powerful vocals, songstress and Idol Queen Kelly Clarkson is also an AHmazing songwriter, as well!!!
Our Texan sweetheart has co-written tons of tracks on her albums, including hit singles Behind These Hazel Eyes and Because Of You!
And while he once judged Mz. Clarkson on the Idol stage, it seems Simon Cowell wanted in on Kel’s songwriting action too!
He even asked Kelly to write a track for his boy band, One Direction!
Kelly recently revealed:
“When Simon Cowell put me forward to write for One Direction I said: ‘Let me hear them first.’ Simon has been really supportive since I won American Idol. Tell Me a Lie is the cut I’ve got on 1D’s album, as I like the story of them, how they came together as a group.”
Tell Me A Lie is such an awesomely written track, with a total Clarkson flare…now it’s all making sense!
The Dark Side singer went on to say that although she originally wrote the song for her current Stronger album, it just “didn’t fit in.”
We’re sure all the 1D fans are thankful for Kelly giving the boys such a great song for their hit debut album!
