Mark Ruffalo will be playing The Hulk in the upcoming Avengers movie and he opened up about starring in one of the most highly anticipated comic book movies to date! Here are some HIGHlights:
On being introduced at Comic-Con:
“It was very exciting ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and I realized I had some pretty big shoes to fill. Those were my heroes up there! I was a comic book fan growing up. I loved The Hulk and The Avengers ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ it├óΓé¼Γäós just strange to be entering that world as an actor. I never would have imagined that before.
“I was very, very nervous. I didn├óΓé¼Γäót know what to expect. That├óΓé¼Γäós as close you├óΓé¼Γäóre going to get to being a rock star as an actor. The fans ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ they have very strong feelings toward their comic book heroes.”
On Bruce Banner, The Hulk’s human alter ego:
“He├óΓé¼Γäós a guy struggling with two sides of himself ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ the dark and the light ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and everything he does in his life is filtered through issues of control. I grew up on the Bill Bixby TV series, which I thought was a really nuanced and real human way to look at The Hulk. I like that the part has those qualities.”
On Marvel’s split with Ed Norton:
“I├óΓé¼Γäóm a friend of Ed├óΓé¼Γäós, and yeah, that wasn├óΓé¼Γäót a great way for all that to go down. But the way I see it is that Ed has bequeathed this part to me. I look at it as my generation├óΓé¼Γäós Hamlet.”
We wonder if Ed feels the same way!
