Meghan McCain Shades Pamela Anderson & Blames 'The View' Audience For Her Feuds!

Meghan McCain seems to be having such a hard time on The View.

The political pundit just gets into fight after fight — which makes for lots of talked-about moments for the show but doesn’t seem to be helping with gurl’s stress levels.

As you may have seen, this month she went after guest Pamela Anderson, turning the daytime table into a hardball interview about her relationship with controversial Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. Meghan was trying to call out how Assange was a “cyberterrorist” doing Vladimir Putin‘s bidding — and basically failed to do so as Pam smacked down every jab and got the entire audience on her side. It was actually kind of painful to watch.

Well now Meghan is spilling on what that battle was like from her perspective. On Tuesday night’s Watch What Happens Live, she told Andy Cohen:

“I will say I was a big fan of hers growing up. I actually gave her final Playboy as a gift to my husband because he had a crush on her growing up, and I was really disappointed with how it went.”

Hmm. You’d think she would have broached a touchy subject in a more sensitive way since she was such a fan.

“And I will say, Joy Behar actually gave me some really amazing advice that I need to stop helping people get famous that are having a hard time, or get publicity because getting in a fight with me is a really good way to get on the front lines.”

Wow. So Pam was using a fight someone less famous picked with her to raise her own profile? That’s diabolical. We never knew the Baywatch star was such a Machiavellian genius.

John McCain‘s daughter continued:

“But I stand by everything I said. I think the message she’s giving is incredibly dangerous, in terms of Julian Assange and cyberterrorism.”

Well, accurate or not, you have to try harder to make these points, Meghan!

Andy also asked about a more recent incident, the awkward moment Ana Navarro told her not to scream at her because she was two feet away, leading to Meghan walking off the stage as the show went to commercial.

Now she’s saying that so-called “storming off” is a kind of release valve producers actually encouraged!

“I just want to say the walking off footage, we are told by producers to leave the table if it’s too heated. And I get touched up backstage with my makeup. So that’s what I was doing, and I’ve done that many times over the years so I don’t know why this particular time…”

The fact you have to do it all the time doesn’t necessarily make it more chill; it may mean you need to get less bothered all the time.

Meghan often blames it on the pressure of being the only Republican, but both Ana and Abby Huntsman are also GOP, so that excuse isn’t working anymore.

So now? Now she’s blaming the audience. She told Andy:

“I will say the audience is extremely combative.”

Then she added, nodding to the people gathered at WWHL:

“…and it’s nice to be in a positive audience.”

“I just wanna say *checks notes* Cincinnati is the greatest city in the world!” LOLz, whatevs, we’re not going to drag someone for audience pandering. Our readers are too sophisticated to want that kind of thing.

She continued:

“The booing and the heckling is a lot every day, and I’m paid at The View, I’m paid to give a different view. So I’d like us all when people come to roll it back because, again, I’m just trying do a very complicated job.”

It’s not something anyone could do — but does it really have to be that complicated?

The audience OOHs and AHs and claps and buzzes. You’ll notice everyone else on shows like this have to deal with it and very few regularly turn on their audience like that. Even the other ladies on your own show!

What do YOU think of Meghan’s explanations for what looks like being kind of bad at being on TV??

Watch Andy try to ask as artfully as he can why she’s having a hard time expressing her view (below):
