MORE Immune Boosting Super Foods!

Garlic Immunity
Add these to the list, guys!
If you want to not be sick this winter as we hurtle towards spring — maybe you should be eating more of these wonderfully badass foods!
GARLIC
Mmm! We love garlic! So buttery, but so strong!
Not only does it taste good, but it fights infection. Each clove has sulfur-containing compounds, including powerful allicin, ajoene and thiosulfinates. That allicin is even pretty effective against that jerk, MRSA!
It’s even useful at preventing colds. So, eat up! Kissing can wait! HA!
WHEAT GERM
Wheat Germ is basically where vegetarians get their zinc. What does zinc do?
Oh, just that it’s involved in nearly every aspect of immune system regulation. Also it helps maintain seksi skin and mucous membranes — a first line of defense against sickness!
BRAZIL NUTS
Ever heard of selenium? Taken in large doses, it can be poisonous. Taken in small doses, like in one brazil nut, you get a nutrient that helps to form selenoproteins — a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent cellular damage from free radicals.
The thing is, you don’t want a bunch of brazil nuts because a single nut has almost twice as much as the daily dose. Eating a whole can could be bad news!
Mushroom Barley Soup
We aren’t HUGE fans of mushrooms, but, if they’re going to help us stay healthy — let us at’em!
Both barley and mushrooms have beta-glucens! What are the? Well:

Researchers say that beta-glucan can stimulate the immune system by mimicking an invading pathogen, which in turn improves the function of two types of immune defense cells: natural killer cells and macrophages, a type of white blood cell found in human tissue.

That’s a great reason!
Raw Kale Salad
Kale is great! It’s awesome as chips, it’s awesome in juice, and it’s awesome in salad!
It’s high in vitamin C, low in sugar, and high in fiber. So yep, that vitamin C is killer — and will result in shorter and more mild colds!
There you go, guys! Healthy eating, and WASH YOUR HANDS!
