YouTuber Myka Stauffer Being Investigated After Rehoming Her Adopted Autistic Son!

It just keeps getting worse for Myka and James Stauffer!

As we reported, the YouTubers’ career hit a proverbial iceberg when they decided to give up their adopted son after making monetized content with him on their channel for years. Fans expressed outrage after Myka announced she and James had placed Huxley, who has autism, with another family, eventually causing several brands to pull the plug on their business relationships with the couple.

Now, it appears local authorities are getting involved. According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, officials are actually investigating the Stauffers after receiving “several inquiries regarding the welfare” of Huxley. A rep for the department explained in a statement:

“Our primary concern is for the well-being of this child, as well as the other children in the household. Our investigation is ongoing, and will include contact with all children to ensure their safety.”

Sounds like fans didn’t believe Myka and James, who are parents to four other children, when they said Huxley is now living with another family who was better equipped to handle his special needs. Since the news Huxley was “rehomed” many viewers have accused the parents of exploiting him for views.

The spokesperson added that although all adoption cases are confidential, they must go through “a thorough process” with “specific requirements and safeguards” like home studies and background checks on the parents. The rep noted:

“In this case we are confident that the appropriate process is occurring. In addition, both parties are being represented by attorneys to ensure full compliance with the court process.”

The Stauffers told viewers in an emotional 7-minute apology video that they tried their hardest to make things work with Huxley, who allegedly exhibited far greater behavioral issues than they ever showed on camera.

After multiple assessments and evaluations, however, they said “numerous medical professionals have felt that he needed a different fit and that [with] his medical needs, he needed more.”

According to Myka, who has been posting videos with James since at least 2014, Huxley was diagnosed with a stroke in utero, has level 3 autism and sensory processing disorder. She said in Thursday’s video, titled “An update on our family”:
