So this Ariana Grande scandal is wild and all, but many who have followed her career probably felt like it was also, well… a touch familiar.
The Side To Side singer has something of a history of hooking up with guys who were already taken. Her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater may have been married with a newborn baby, but it’s far from the first time her new beau has been spoken for.
There was Pete Davidson, who was with Cazzie David for two and a half years. According to Cazzie, they took a break for a couple days, but when she called him to reconcile he was full-on dating Ariana — and the two quickly got engaged. And Nomi Leasure confirmed in 2018 that Mac Miller had cheated on her with the pop star. Even hubby Dalton Gomez‘s ex posted about how he’d told her “not to worry about” Ariana. We also just found out that indie singer Rikki Valentina has her own story to tell, too!

And then there’s what happened with Big Sean. The rapper had been engaged to Naya Rivera for about six months. Supposedly he and the Glee star called off their wedding in April 2014 — and then he immediately started dating Ariana.
But the way Naya wrote about it, there was a pretty obvious overlap — like there always seems to be. In her 2016 memoir Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes, and Growing Up, she told the whole story:
“Once, we’d been fighting for five days straight while he was traveling, and then on the one day that he was back in LA, he said he didn’t want to see me. I was like, ‘Well, a**hole, I’ve got a key to your house, so I’m just going to come see you.'”
You can probably see where this is going. She continued:
“I walk in, go downstairs, and guess what little girl is sitting cross-legged on the couch listening to music? C’mon, people, I’m not going to tell you, but you can guess because it’s not that hard! (it rhymes with ‘Smariana Schmande,’ if you’re really have a hard time.)”
Remember, they had NOT broken up! And her man had Smariana over behind her back! We guess he didn’t think Naya would just come over. Clearly he didn’t know who he was dealing with! She lamented:
“I learned that I was no longer getting married from the internet and at the same time as the rest of the world. Not only were we no longer getting married, but apparently we weren’t even together anymore.”
Naya later clarified she never accused either of them of cheating. And it’s true, she never said those words. But her meaning was perfectly clear. And everyone got it.
Now that we’ve revisited that story, it’s definitely NOT as bad as what Ariana has been accused of doing this time. We mean, the man is divorcing his wife, turning her into a single mom. Oof.
