Do Americans Sleep Too Much??

night-sky-scary-sleep-problem.jpg
Sleep is so important for too many reasons to list them all here, like: physical health, mental health, daytime productivity, mood, entering the dreamscape to keep dream demons in their respective dimension, etc.
Many Americans feel that they don’t get enough sleep. Which is definitely true in this caffeine-fueled society.
But many Americans get waaaaay too much sleep, and it’s super bad, you guys.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that the average American over the age of 15 gets 8 hours and 43 minutes of sleep a night!
Add an extra hour on the weekends.
We don’t know about you, but that sounds healthy to us. Also, we don’t know anyone who gets that much sleep.
The original study seemed less about health and more about productivity, saying that some very wealthy and successful business owners and CEOs get about four to six hours of sleep a night.
We’d say aim for something between 6 and 8. We hear the magic number is right around 7-and-a-half because the average sleep cycle is 90 minutes so waking up after 7-and-a-half hours of sleep is waaaay easy.
Happy sleeping!
