NYC Passes Giant Soda Crackdown!

Soad Ban NYC Passes
Time to give up your freedom to not have to go get a refill, NYC!
The NYC health board has PASSED the rule banning super-sized sugary drinks. This includes at restaurants, concession stands, and other places.
The new limit is 16 oz for cup and bottles of non-diet soda, sweetened teas, etc.
It doesn’t cover supermarkets or most convenience stores, though, so we’ll probably see a lot of people just sneaking that stuff in to places!
Of course, the industry that makes these things are outraged, and they might have a point — don’t they have a right to sell their product??
It’ll be interesting if we see if it has an impact… though, it’s pretty stupid in how patchy it is: it would affect a regular soda sold at a sports arena but not a 7-Eleven Big Gulp.
A violation would lead to a $200 fine, too.
We’re torn, because we DO want people to be healthier… but we want it to be THEIR choice!
Smoking we understand, because it can directly affect others. This, not so much!
