Philippines Presidential Candidate Jokes About 'Beautiful' Gang Rape Victim During Rally -- Saying He 'Should Have Been First'!

no title
And you thought Donald Trump was bad…
The front running candidate for president of the Philippines is getting major heat for a disturbingly distasteful joke about… gang rape.
Davao City mayor Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte caused an uproar in the country after making the awful comments during a campaign rally last week.
A video that was shot during the April 12 rally in Quezon City shows the mayor discussing an incident that occurred at the Davao jail in August 1989, during his first term as mayor.

Inmates of the prison took over the guards and took their weapons, taking 15 people hostage — including Australian lay minister Jacqueline Hamill. According to other hostages who escaped, Hamill was raped by her captors before they slashed her throat.
So when the presidential candidate talked about this already harrowing tale during a rally, he remembered how mad he was — that he didn’t get to rape her first, quipping:

“I looked at her face, son of a bitch, she looks like a beautiful American actressI was angry because she was raped, that’s one thing. But she was so beautiful, the mayor should have been first. What a waste.”

What the actual f*ck!?
Obviously, the front runner was put on blast from citizens and political opponents alike — pointing out his misogynistic and downright disturbing joke. Opposing candidate Manuel “Mar” Roxas II told CNN Philippines:

“Anyone who laughs at the ultimate assault on the dignity of women should not be allowed to wield power.”

Another candidate, Sen. Grace Poe, said:

“It is distasteful and unacceptable, and reflects his disrespect for women. No one, whoever she is and whatever her looks may be, deserves to be raped and abused. Rape is a crime and no laughing matter. We should all be outraged at abuses against women.”

But even though the crowd laughed afterward, Duterte asserts that his tasteless comment “was not a joke,” telling Sydney Morning Herald:

“I said it in a narrative. I wasn’t smiling├óΓé¼┬ªI said it in the heat of anger. I’m sorry in general. I’m sorry to the Filipino people, it’s my style, it’s my mouth, I said it in anger ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ listen to the story behind it.”

So, he’s saying it was a├óΓé¼┬ª performance piece? We’re not buying it.

“All the women were raped so during the first assault, because they retreated, the bodies they used as a cover, one of them was the corpse of the Australian woman layminister. Tsk, this is a problem. When the bodies were brought out, they were wrapped. I looked at her face, son of a bitch, she looks like a beautiful American actress. Son of a bitch, what a waste. What came to mind was, they raped her, they lined up. I was angry because she was raped, that’s one thing. But she was so beautiful, the mayor should have been first. What a waste.”

Ugh.
