Ladies and gentlemen, Her Majesty The Queen has spoken!
Queen Elizabeth delivered on Sunday an official palace address regarding the coronavirus and its fall-out in the United Kingdom and around the world. Measured, calm, and resilient in her speech, the Queen implored all residents of the UK and those around the globe to continue to fight against COVID-19 and its wake of death and destruction.

Speaking directly to the camera, the royal head was strong in her delivery, clear in her speech, and re-assuring in her tone. The palace shared parts of the speech on social media channels, too, while news outlets and others picked up the video in live streams across the globe.
On the Royal Family’s Instagram account, for one, the Brits announced the Queen’s strong words with a message about the special event having just taken place at Windsor Castle (below):
“Her Majesty The Queen addresses the UK and Commonwealth in a special broadcast recorded at Windsor Castle.”
And the account further shared a brief quote from one part of the Queen’s full-length speech, which brimmed with quiet confidence and admirable resolve:
“We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again … we will succeed, and that success will belong to every one of us.”
Amen to that! Unprecedented times these are, but the Queen stepped up in this noteworthy moment and appears to have really set the tone for others to follow.

Not to make things too political at this point, but what would it be like if we here in the United States had a public leader of sorts who could, ya know, deliver a cogent, coherent, and comforting message like this right now? Seriously, though. Must be nice. Just saying…
