While Rose McGowan has been anything but silent about her rape accusations, she has been careful.
From what we understand, the Charmed star is under some kind of legal barrier to speaking out against Harvey Weinstein — though if that’s true she can’t even reveal the nature of that agreement (though it’s been reported she was paid $100K for her silence).
So details about her experience at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival have been scarce.

But in her upcoming memoir, Brave, the actress-director describes it in disgusting, heartbreaking detail — though omitting Weinstein’s name:
“By now we all know the Monster’s name, but I have made a choice not to use it.”
According to The New York Times review, Rose describes an all-too-familiar series of events for those who have been reading Weinstein stories.

She was invited to a meeting at a restaurant, but when she got there she was told the meeting had been moved to Weinstein’s suite because he was stuck on a phone call.
Unfortunately, Rose had no reason to think twice at the time. She wrote:
“I was certain we would be working together for many years to come, and we were here to plot out the grand arc of my career.”
When she got there, she describes “The Monster” shoving her into his jacuzzi room and pulling off her clothes, at which point she froze “like a statue.”
She writes that he put her on the edge of the hot tub and performed oral sex on her while masturbating in the water. Rose claims she faked pleasure to get him to finish more quickly — which he did:
“He moans loudly; through my tears I see his semen floating on top of the bubbles.”
Ew. Rose may actually be too good a writer, because that image is going to stick with us.

She goes on to describe an experience that sounds completely insane, involving being fed disinformation, followed and infiltrated by Israeli spies, and smeared throughout the industry by secret phone calls.
Unfortunately, we now know all of that madness is exactly what Harvey is accused of doing to a great many women.
Sounds like Brave is going to be quite the read. It’s available for purchase starting Tuesday, January 30.
