Big news!
After three months of negotiations, Ryan Seacrest is officially returning as host of American Idol!
The media personality (er, his cohost Kelly Ripa, rather) confirmed the exciting news this morning on Live!, his latest gig that moved him full-time from Los Angeles to New York.

A statement from ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey shortly followed, saying:
“So much of American Idol‘s overwhelming success can be attributed to Ryan, whose larger-than-life personality and laudable dedication to creating quality entertainment has made him a true master of his craft. His talent is limitless, and I can’t think of a more appropriate person to honor the Idol legacy as it takes on new life than the man who has been there through it all.”
And the only confirmed host, Katy Perry, tweeted in response:
I’m spicy, @RyanSeacrest is seasoned❗️All the right ingredients are coming together on @AmericanIdol. Have YOU auditioned? #TheNextIdol 🎶🎤🎶

So, we know what you’re probably thinking… how is Ryan going to tape AI in El Lay, be in NYC for his morning show, and do his iHeartRadio radio gig??
Well, it sounds like the 42-year-old is going to be in California for Idol‘s live tapings on Sunday nights, then take the red-eye to appear on Live! AND broadcast his radio show by Monday morning. Respect that hustle!
Auditions for the reality show begin next month, so it sounds like Seacrest will only be around for a handful of them. Also, once popular contestants are eliminated, they will stop by Live! after leaving Idol — kinda like Jimmy Kimmel‘s partnership with The Bachelorette!
Interesting!
