Thursday night’s American Idol series finale had EVERYTHING we could have ever hoped for!
Aside from crowning the winner, Jennifer Lopez performed her new song Ain’t Your Mama as well as Let’s Get Loud, and ALL your favorite Idol contestants took the stage to say goodbye!

While there were so many great moments from the epic sendoff, one of our favorites HAD to be Simon Cowell making a surprise appearance and reuniting with his former fellow judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson — and of course host Ryan Seacrest!
What made this so special was Cowell, who often has nothing but harsh things to say, got a bit misty as he reflected on all the fun memories of working on the show. Simon even admitted he was a bit emotional as he said:
“I’d like to say on behalf of us, thank you America for inviting us into your homes, thank you to the contestants … and, for you guys being actually my best friends now, and I’m going to miss you. I’m feeling quite emotional now.”
