Spielberg's Smash & Lead Katharine McPhee Land Record Deals

This is such a lucky break for her!

NBC has inked a deal with Columbia Records, the same label that handles all of Glee’s recordings, to put out the soundtrack to their own upcoming musical venture, Smash. In addition, the show’s star, Katharine McPhee, has been given her own solo recording contract.

Hmm. It’s interesting that Ryan Murphy didn’t try and put the same deal in place for Lea Michele when Glee started. Guess Steven Spielberg took notes and improved on RM’s system!
