Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra are barred from seeing their first child Carly. Now we know why.
For months, the couple has been having trouble with Brandon and Teresa Davis. Catelynn and Tyler revealed last September they’d been blocked by Carly’s adoptive parents from seeing or speaking to their daughter — despite having an open adoption. They’ve been very open about the messy situation and their desire to stay in touch with Carly, even talking to social media in the hopes that she would see they didn’t abandon her.
Originally, the pair thought they may have been ghosted because of Tyler’s OnlyFans account since Brandon and Teresa are very conservative. When they learned this, they shut it down immediately! However, it turns out that wasn’t the issue…

During a new episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter on Thursday, Catelynn claimed Brandon and Teresa cut them off because of the adoptive mom’s mental health! She told her co-stars Kailyn Lowry and Maci Bookout:
“Brandon and Teresa straight up told our adoption counselor Dawn, ‘Yeah, I had to block her for my mental health.’ And I was, like, ‘Your mental health, your mental health?’ I mean, it was like anxiety. I literally felt every emotion come up of when I hugged her in the hospital and told her bye.”
Apparently Teresa also wanted an apology from the pair! Catelynn continued:
“Dawn says, like, ‘Oh, Teresa said, you guys are going to have to have a talk, that she needs to have a very sincere apology.’ I said, ‘You? You need an apology? For what? For me putting the truth out about how you are as a human and what you did to us. I deserve a f**king apology.’”
Oh no. It doesn’t sound like this had any chance of being resolved peacefully.
And true enough, Brandon and Teresa aren’t budging on the matter. They won’t let Tyler and Catelynn reach out to Carly, not even on special occasions. The MTV personality claimed:
“She straight up told Dawn to tell us that we’re not allowed to send gifts anymore because it’s uncalled for. She said, ‘But tell them they can’t tell anybody I said that.’ And I said, ‘Well, f**k now, I’m saying it. I’m spilling it from the rooftops.’”
Tyler then interjected to say:
“You have my kid, you can’t take my story, too.”
They know the kind of reaction that statement will have on viewers! Catelynn noted that on top of the drama with Carly’s adoptive parents, they have other people who will chime in. Plenty of critics think she and Tyler shouldn’t have ever had a relationship with their firstborn to begin with. Or that they shouldn’t publicly air out their issues with Teresa and Brandon!
Elsewhere in the episode, Tyler addressed the aggravation with fans who think they should shut up. During a podcast episode with TikTok star Jordy Cray, he began:
“I don’t care about Brandon and Teresa right now. Now that the access is taken away, it’s like, well, then…”
Catelynn explained:
“Our main goal for putting stuff out publicly was because if Carly has a chance of being able to see that we never stopped trying, she deserves to know that in my opinion. Also, it is bringing awareness to everybody that is involved in adoption.”
But there’s also more to the story behind the troubles with the parents! At least, that’s what Tyler claimed! However, they kept a lot of things private for Carly. He said:
“We didn’t speak on a lot of things that happened behind closed doors because… I want to. That’s priority number one is being able to see her and have access to her.”
Catelynn took the gloves off, though! She didn’t hesitate to spill the tea about what was really bothering Teresa! She alleged the adoptive momma had an issue with Carly’s relationship with their other kids:
“Carly’s always said, ‘This is my sister.’ So, I thought it was an okay thing. So, I just went with it. Teresa said the word sisters just really gets me.”
Tyler added:
“It doesn’t sit right with me. Should we say birth sister? What would you prefer? And she literally didn’t really have an answer.”
Oof!
What an incredibly tough situation for Tyler and Catelynn. We do really feel for them. Hopefully, they can work things out with Brandon and Teresa and end the rift between them soon. Reactions, Perezcious readers? Sound off in the comments!
