Simon Gave Up $100 Million To Do X Factor

That is a shizload of cash, but when you have the kind of money he already has you can afford to reject it.

Simon Cowell reportedly turned down the $100 million offer he received to stay at American Idol!

That kind of offer obviously hints at Idol execs believing that the show can’t go on without him, but Simon seems to think otherwise saying:

“If I thought it would lead to the death of Idol, I genuinely wouldn’t have done it. We are sure that Idol will continue successfully. Everyone seemed quite cool about it.”

In the meantime Simon is hard at work at bringing The X Factor over to America successfully in 2011, even tapping music mogul (and Mariah Carey‘s ex-husband) Tommy Mottola to judge on the show.

We’re not sure how successful Idol will be without Simon.
