This is truly amazing!
Almost two months since it's release, Josh Groban's new album, the Christmas collection Noel, is topping the charts in America.
The record moved 405,041 copies in the last seven days, according to the new Soudscan charts. That's almost DOUBLE the amount he sold in the previous week!
Why the huge jump?
Groban appeared on Oprah's "Favorite Things" show last Tuesday.
Magic!
Groban's album has already been certified platinum. Good going!
Also crazy this week, Disney's High School Musical 2 soundtrack has jumped back into the Top Ten.
Blame Tina!
Four months after its release, the High School Musical 2 soundtrack is #6 this week, selling 182,962 copies - bringing its total album sales to 2.3 million!
Alicia Keys's latest CD continues to move massive amounts. Her As I Am sold 348,548 copies this past week.
American Idol alum Jordin Sparks managed to sell 119,119 copies in her debut week. Unfortunately, that was only good enough for a tenth place finish! That's the lowest first week sales of any Idol winner ever.
Fellow Idol champ Carrie Underwood, continues to do very well. Her latest, Carnival Ride, in its 5th week is outperforming Sparks.
Carrie moved an additional 141,406 copies this week. Her album has already gone platinum.

Josh Groban deserves the #1 spot. I love all the other artists on the charts as well. But no matter what, when you hear Josh sing on his albums, or Live in person, he always sounds amazing. He has true talent. His voice is amazing, and he NEVER lip syncs.
Good for him… it's good to see real true talent acknowledged.
I love Josh. The man has a perfect voice. I've seen him perform live a few times and he is pitch perfect everytime. Amazing. Oh and btw, hes also really kind and warm to his fans, theres no diva behavior with him.

Oprah has such power, doesn't she? A dude's album jumps to number one because she says so, a book makes the bestseller list because she says so, a movie is "grand" (see Dreamgirls fame) because she says so… Wonder what she'll do for Obama.
Actually, Oprah's hand is sorta crappy in this instance because she robbed Alicia Keys of the number one spot for the second week….early reports were already saying she'd get it…sorta lame, Oprah.
It's no surprise, Jordan's not doing well…the ratings for her finale were the lowest ever… Jordan was really underwhelming…she's a cheesy looking kid and for some reason she believes her 80's sound is okay lol

I have Josh Groban's Christmas cd and I have to say it's amazing. I'm a big fan of his and he never gets the attention he deserves. I'm glad to hear he's #1 this week but I can't say I'm that surpsied. As soon as I saw he was on Oprah's favorite things I knew he would be.
Totally agree American Idol is just a popularity contest. The early rounds are fun, but once they get beyond the top 10 it's ridiculous. I'm a die hard fan of the show for the entertainment value, but it gets frustrating. Teeny boppers vote for who they think is cute, or who seems the most humble. God forbid anyone have confidence.
The winners rarely make it really big, with the exception of Kelly and Carrie. Come on - Taylor Hicks? Jordin Sparks? Does anyone even remember Ruben? And the runners up are just as bad. Justin Sideshow Bob making the top 2? Vampy tacky fake Katherine McPhee? Diana DeGarmo and her cutesy "Mr Simon" while she sang out of tune?
Chris Daughtry should have won. Going out 4th while Taylor/Kat made the finals was stupidity. He's having the last laugh. Blake should have easily won over Jordin. Jennifer Hudson should have won (6th? hah!).

JOSH IS #1!! He totally deserves it. Sure Oprah helped him a lot this week, there's no denying the kind of influence she has. But Josh has been in the Top 10 every week since Noel was released two months ago..last week he was #2 withOUT Oprah's help. His album's just that good, and his voice is just that good. Believe it. Go out and buy the album!

First off, he ISNT Jewish. I know that for a fact, and if he were, I doubt he'd be singing odes to Jesus for Christmas, LOL. Secondly, 5 to 10 year olds would have to have pretty sophisticated tastes to be listening to Josh, I mean, come on, what 5 year old do you know whos listening to Italian love songs? And thirdly, he cant be much of a loser since he has sold out Madison Square Garden in record time 2 years ago and has the top selling album for the second time in his career.

yay for josh! and yes we have heard of him in australia (all his shows in sydney, melbourne, perth and brisbane were sold out, do u live under a rock?) and as for the traditional thing, those arrangements were classy. just coz theyy didnt turn them into rock or rap doesnt mean they're are bad. and did u hear drummer boy? i wouldnt exactly call that arrangement tradtional. also glad to see alicia doing well, she's freakin awesome.
