Scientology Loses a Billionaire

cruisecyring.jpg

One of Tom Cruise's Scientology buddies, Australian billionaire James Packer, is reportedly over the 'religion'. Packer was recently listed as Scientology's richest member.

Cruise introduced Packer to Scientology in 2002.

Packer's closest friends have revealed that he's quietly distanced himself from Scientology, was no longer undertaking Scientology courses and has told them he no longer "needs it".

The religion entered Packer's life at one of the lowest points. He was overweight and depressed, his marriage to his first wife, Jodhi Meares, had ended and he was reeling from the humiliating and very public collapse of business, One.Tel, in which he lost about $350 million.

Packer spilled about his association with Scientology only once, telling The Australian Financial Review Magazine in 2006 that he spent an hour or so "every couple of days" practicing the religion. "I think it has been very good for me," he said. "It has been helpful. I have some friends in Scientology that have been very supportive. But I think it's just helped me have a better outlook on life."

However, looks like Packer's distancing from the church could be money-motivated. The report points to observers who've suggested that Packer's expanding casino empire has presented issues difficult to reconcile with Scientologist beliefs.

Scientology's founder, L. Ron Hubbard, denounced gambling. "An obsessive gambler is a psychotic just like a drug addict or an alcoholic," Hubbard wrote in 1977.

Packer's office did not respond to calls for comments.

This is a big glow for the "church." Packer - as all Scientologists do - give a big portion of their annual income to the house of Xenu.

That's a lot of money Scientology's no longer getting!

Don't Eff With Her, Fellas!

51987235.jpg

Judy Davis is mad. Suing mad.

The 53-year-old actress is suing News Corp subsidiary Nationwide News for defamation over some articles published in Sydney's The Daily Telegraph newspaper back in February of 2006 regarding her behavior at a local council meeting.

Davis told an Australian court Tuesday that she had to stop attending her daughter's soccer games due to the anguish over the newspaper articles that suggested she hates children.

Ha! Now that's just a bit funny, isn't it???

The articles described her opposition to a plan by the council to install floodlights for children's soccer training at a park near her home in Sydney. Davis is claiming that the article is implying she hates children.

Davis was on the stand for four hours in the New South Wales state Supreme Court , defending her position that her image was tarnished by the newspaper.

Uhm, yea. Someone is being way over dramatic!

Judy went on to say that she was concerned it would affect her year 10 year old daughter, Charlotte.

Davis statedy, "The parents of the girls in her class might not want her to play with them because her mother doesn't like children. And maybe the soccer team that she's just joined … might not want her in the team. They're very big things in a young girl's life."

There seems to be a lot of 'maybes' and 'might nots' in her statement.

So her daughter already joined the team but they won't allow her in? And the other kids might not want to play with her?

Wouldn't they have NOT been playing with her daughter for two years then? Wouldn't they have ignored or teased her since 2006 when it happened? They're all of a sudden probably, maybe, going to start not playing with her?

We smell a bunch of baloney!

Back To The Big Gay Way

jackman__opt1.jpg

Ladies and homos, get ready!

The hotness that is Hugh Jackman is likely headed back to Broadway!

The Australian actor is supposedly thinking about taking on the role of Norman Maine in the stage adaptation of the 1954 film A Star is Born.

Jackman is credited with turning the musical The Boy From Oz into a huge money-making, award-winning sensation.

We're sure he would do the same for A Star is Born.

The current plan for A Star is Born is to put it into workshop this year and open in 2009 or 2010.

That's too long from now!!!

The Reviews Are In

kylie.jpg

Kylie Minogue kicked off her new world tour in Paris on Tuesday night and the critics are raving!

"Aussie pop royalty Kylie kicked off her X2008 tour with her most opulent concert ever. The brave star, who has firmly set her cancer battle behind her, proved she is the undisputed queen of the pop landscape with this intoxicating set. An impressive band, including a brass section for the first time ever, excelled, but it was the theatricality that impressed most. A Kylie show is no mere concert, it’s an epic theatrical extravaganza. And one that should not be missed."

We've been watching clips on YouTube.

The show is the hotness!

Heath Ledger's "Joker" Dolls Sell Out

joker.jpg

Heath Ledger dolls are selling out all over New York.

People are lining up early at toy stores to pick up a plastic action figurine of Heath as the Joker in the Batman sequel The Dark Knight.

Trying to downplay the Joker sellout, Bob Friedland, a Toys 'R' Us spokesman said, "We are getting these products, all of the Dark Knight action figures, on a regular basis."

But the stores are running out quickly.

One employee for Toys 'R' Us saya, "There are none left in the warehouse, either. You will be waiting a while if you want one."

Many stores are still left waiting for shipments to arrive.

A spokeswoman for FAO Schwarz said her NY store had none of the figures yet.

The impossible to acquire Joker figures are being sold in stores for $9.99. And some are already being sold on ebay!

If people's interest in the dolls and remembering Heath is any indication, the new Batman film is gonna do boffo box office.

We can't wait to see it on Imax!!!!

She's Still Got It

81005098_10.jpg81005364_10.jpg

Miz Minogue kicked off her "X" world tour in Paris on Tuesday night, and by the look of things, it seems pretty fierce.

This latest outing is Kylie's biggest undertaking, costing millions and millions of dollars to put on and taking her to many parts of the world she's never played before, like Russia.

Too bad she's not coming to America! Sad.

Check back later for the reviews!

Listen To This: Better Than The Original!

kylieonnumero-7a.jpg

Heart Beat Rock was always an "album track" off Kylie Minogue's latest in our mind, but…

The Benny Blanco remix featuring Spank Rock is totally Kylie "single-worthy"!

Completely brings new life and zexyness to the song!

It's very Fergie/Black Eyed Peas' My Humps meets Minogue.

Check it out below.

It makes you wanna pop and drop!

Momma Worked It Out

met_gala_06_wenn5131584.jpg

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Naomi Watts killed it at the Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC on Monday night.

The Australian went for Old Hollywood and she nailed it!

It's as if she had something to prove, almost. She's trying to tell us, "I may be a mom now, but I'm still hot and know how to give the fierceness."

Yes you do, honey!

Update: Naomi was wearing vintage Thierry Mugler.
