Katharine McPhee is biologically a brunette and now chemically a blonde!

Because blondes sell more records have more fun!

The new look accompanies her new album, Unbroken, and McPhee says:

"I’ve never dyed my hair before so this was a pretty drastic change. I’ve always been known as a brunette but I’ve been thinking about it for a long time and it kind of just fit with all of the searching with the music and experimenting that I would do the same thing with my look."

She goes on and on about her hair and adds:

"The look has affected the way I dress, it’s inspired me to be more adventurous with what I decide to wear. It’s silly that something so simple as changing your hair could have such a big effect."

Big effect indeed!

As we mentioned earlier this month, American Idol reject runner-up, Katharine McPhee, has been dropped by her record label.

However, we've just learned McPhee is getting another opportunity to fail again as a recording artist!

Why, we're not sure though. One album of hers is enough.

But Verve has just signed a new deal with McPhee.

Verve Music Group president/CEO Bruce Resnikoff says "The album she is working on will show many new sides to her talents as an interpreter and a songwriter, and show everyone just how special she is."

The "special" singer is said to be recording her label debut which should be out before the end of the year.

American Idol alum Katharine McPhee is the new spokeswhore for Neutrogena.

Great career* move for her. *What little career she has left.

Sources close to the skin care peddling deal say McPhee walked away with $500K.

Neutrogena and McPhee's people have yet to confirm the deal even though McPhee was spotted shooting a Neutrogena commercial in LA last week.

McPhee is in interesting company. Past 'faces' of Neutrogena include Hayden Panettiere, Vanessa Hudgens and Mushy Barton.

Rumer Willis is devastated she didn't get the job!

Katharine McPhee has been dropped by her record label!

The singer came in second on American Idol, losing out to Taylor Hicks, who also recently was dropped by his label, as was other Idol champ Ruben Studdard.

The Idol machine is failing.

As the new season is set to debut….
