The Academy of Country Music just announced the 2016 Academy of Country Music Awards nominees — and the only controversy here is how competitive the categories are! LOLz!
Country newcomer Chris Stapleton leads the pack this year with Eric Church — who scored five nominations each!
Trailing close behind with four nods each are Cam, Chris Young, and Little Big Town!
And let's not forget about Miranda Lambert – who is up for Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Vocal Event of the Year for her performance of Smokin' and Drinkin' with Little Big Town!

Like we said — the competition is as FIERCE as the red carpet is going to be!

Nicole Kidman was showing out at the SAG Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday, and Keith Urban didn't seem to have any qualms about letting her do her thing!
The actress flashed an eyeful of cleavage in a sequined Gucci gown, complete with ruffled hems and well, just a lot of layers.
While we aren't loving this dress on the beautiful redhead, we can't help but drool over he emerald green jewels and flawless locks!
Still not her best, but what do U think???

Everyone LOVED that Laverne Cox used her red carpet interview to talk the water crisis in Flint — instead of the usual fashion talk:
Realistically, the winner has to come from this episode, right?
In a sentence we never thought we'd utter, American Idol started wrapping up on Thursday as it aired its final audition episode ever.
Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, Harry Connick, Jr., and Ryan Seacrest were all on hand as the FOX singing competition tried one last time to recreate the Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood magic.

But aside from the music, the real emotional part of the night was the judges' realizations that they were at the end of an era.
The trio got pretty honest about watching the former juggernaut come to an end after 15 years, saying:
Well, this is an interesting opinion.
On Friday, American Idol exec Trish Kinane appeared at the Television Critics Association alongside the popular program's famous faces to discuss the farewell season of FOX's flagship show.
She explained that, even though the network pulled the plug on the singing competition, the premiere of its fifteenth installment had the best year-to-year retention in six years!

"It's been an amazing run and it's still a healthy show."
So healthy, in fact, that it doesn't seem like the judges are entirely convinced that it's actually ending! When a reporter referred to this season as the "final" season, Harry Connick Jr. was quick to correct, clarifying:
Keith Urban's father, Robert (Bob) Urban, passed away on December 5 after battling cancer. Hundreds of people came out on Thursday to pay their respects at the funeral held at the Gregson & Weight Chapel in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia.
Bob is survived by his wife Marienne, his two sons Keith and Shane, and a total of four grandchildren including Keith and wife Nicole Kidman's daughters, Sunday and Faith — who called their late grandfather "Poppa Bob."

The 48-year-old country crooner addressed the congregation saying:
This is so sad.
On Saturday, Keith Urban's father Robert passed away only days after the American Idol judge revealed his parent had entered hospice care.
In a new statement, Nicole Kidman's husband shared:
"I've been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support that Nic and I, and our family, have received since my Dad's passing on Saturday night. His long battle with cancer is now over and he is finally at peace."
Tragic. The Raise 'Em Up performer's poppa had been battling cancer for some time.
