More drama surrounds The Hills off-screen than it does on the show it seems.
And this time it's real!
The neighbors around Lauren Conrad's new house are apparently upset and bothered by the constant filming and the parade of paparazzi and onlookers brought on by the filming.
Residents nearby feel the activities by production present "a serious threat to public safety, create a public nuisance, cause disturbing problems and interfere with their rights as homeowners."
According to an MTV spokesperson, “MTV is in accordance with all required production permits, and is working with the city of Los Angeles to assist it with neighborhood concerns that have been raised.”
Records show the house was purchased in February of this year by the Lauren Conrad Living Trust for $2,360,000.
You know MTV is probably paying for that house!
Conrad's rep has said that Lauren is also upset (yea, right) as are her neighbors over the situation.
She adds that MTV has been following all protocol and that she's even hired private security for outside her home.
Sources reveal, though, that Lauren, Audrina Patridge and Lo "The Ho" Bosworth are only at the house when the cameras are rolling, or whenever there's a photo op or paparazzi outside.
And, even more disturbing are the claims of aggression and violence the residents are receiving from the paparazzi, even an alleged knife fight between two paps!!!!!!
According to sources, the paps "are vandalizing personal property and threatening residents." They're also fighting with each other over “territory” and who has the right to be where.
Councilmember Tom LaBonge’s office acknowledges that there have been problems in the neighborhood and that they've received numerous complaints.
His office says the disruptions are not being caused by MTV, but rather from the paparazzi and the street-side activity.
The office has had about 10 meetings with the complaining group of residents over the past four months.
Reps for the office say, "We have sat down with them to determine how best to address the issue. This is more of a neighborhood issue, than a filming issue. Both the City Attorney’s office and the LAPD have devoted a lot of time to this issue, and they have determined that the issues are not related to the filming itself, but more the noise on the street that results from the production’s presence.”
The Councilman's office states they have spoken with MTV and law officials and are working towards fixing the problem.
A rep from the LA City Attorney's office has said "It’s an ongoing thing where we continue to work with all of the parties involved and we’re continuing to monitor the situation."
Damn that Lauren Conrad.
She ruins everything!
