THIS is why we're glad that Across the Board exists: interviews with people you've always found interesting that not too many people think to interview.
In a recent episode, they sat down with Steve-O. Yes, the Jackass.
We bet you didn't know that in his early career he was a stuntman, and that he has a history with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey's Clown College. We also bet you haven't heard what he has to say about his time with Jackass, and sobriety.
This is worth your time — check it out (above)!!
Steve-O, best known for his role in the Jackass gang occasionally snorting wassabi, shooting bottle rockets out of his butt, or most recently, getting launched into the air in a port-a-potty full of you-know-what, has been living a simpler life since entering into sobriety two-and-a-half years ago.
The Jackass 3D star says:
"I lead a very simple life now. It's important to me that I water my plants. I take care of two rescue dogs. I volunteer at a nursing home. I live in a two bedroom apartment. I drive a Nissan."
That may sound pretty boring to some, but when you've spent most of your life doing drugs and outlandish pranks, it may actually be a pretty exciting change of pace.
He says he didn't realize his life was spinning out of control, until the gang, lead by fellow Jackass Johnny Knoxville "came to my apartment and forced me into a psych ward", adding:
"While I was in there it kind of dawned on me that it was time to do something. It's funny; it's kind of a joke that writes itself, you know you have a drug problem when Johnny Knoxville does an intervention on you."
Well, it sounds like it worked and we're happy to hear your sober. We're definitely looking forward to more Jackass and would hate to lose you.
Wait, so does that means he was sober for the port-a-potty stunt?
You're a braver man than us, Steve-O!
