UPDATE 2:20 PM EST: The gunman has been pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:26 p.m.

Earlier today, a gunman shot and killed a Virginia news reporter and cameraman on live TV.

Police named former WDJB anchor Vester Flanagan, who was known on air as Bryce Williams, as the suspect.

Now, law enforcement sources confirm that Flanagan shot himself after being confronted by police on Highway 66 in Virginia. As of this writing, he is reported to be alive and in critical condition.

Sometime between Tuesday night and this morning, ABC News received a 23-page fax from someone claiming to be Bryce Williams.

Flanagan recorded the shooting with a GoPro and posted it to his Facebook and Twitter pages — which have since been taken down.

One bit of good news — Vicki Gardner, the woman being interviewed who was also shot, is now out of surgery and stable.

We will continue to update you on this developing story.

Julianne Moore is putting her foot down!

Recently, the actress — along with friend and producer Bruce Cohen — created a change.org petition to rename their alma mater — J.E.B. Stuart High School — in Fairfax County, VA.

The school — founded in 1959 — was named after the Confederate general who fought to keep African Americans enslaved.

According to their petition, which has already racked up over 29,000 signatures:

"No one should have to apologize for the name of the public high school you attended and the history of racism it represents, as we and so many alumni of Stuart have felt the need to do our whole lives."

The moniker is only made worse by the school's symbol: an image of Stuart waving the Confederate flag atop a horse.

Instead, the Oscar winner believes her education center should be named after civil rights leader and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.

In a statement, she exclaimed:

Filed under: Icky Icky PooLegal MattersSad SadViolence

Dylann Roof has pleaded not guilty.

The accused gunman in last month's tragic shooting in Charleston, South Carolina has pleaded not guilty to all federal charges.

According to authorities, Dylann Roof had confessed to shooting and killing nine people at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on June 18.

The alleged murderer's lawyer admitted that the 21-year-old actually wanted to plead guilty to all 33 federal charges. However, the attorney said he couldn't allow his client to do so.

The counsel explained that he couldn't advise Dylann since the government is still deciding whether or not it will seek the death penalty for his accused crimes.

We hope that whatever the government decides, justice is served on behalf of all the victims and their families. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.
