Want Better Sperm? Eat Some Nuts!

And not just any nuts! Walnuts!
Many have heard eating a citrus-centric diet, mostly pineapple, can make your sperm all tasty and delicious, like having a pina colada machine in your pants. (Penis colada? LOLz!)
For those actually trying to start a family, would-be dads should eat a large handful of walnuts every day.
A new study found that it can boost the quality of the man's sperm. "Walnuts" are good for "yournuts!" Ha!
Over 100 men were brought into a UCLA study where they gave a sperm sample, then half the group ate 2.5 ounces of walnuts every day for 12 weeks and then gave another sperm sample.
Must've been fun giving those samples.
Apparently men's diets and lifestyle can really affect their fertility.
So… tryna have babies??
Grab some nuts! (And eat them.)

New Gene Discovery Might Mean Birth Control For Men!

Contraception should be achieved because of effort on both the lady's and dude's parts, not just one or the other — that just isn't fair!
So when we hear that a new gene discovery in Edinburgh might just lead to a form of birth control for me, this makes a LOT of people excited!
They discovered that a gene that is essential for the development of sperm — called Katniss1 Katnal1. If you block it, it temporarily stops sperm production!
The team then found out that Katnal1 was used to regulate a structure known as microtubules – parts of sperms that needed for support and the acquisition of nutrients.
Basically, those little swimmers can't move through the balls to finish maturation.
This finding is double awesome, too, when you realize that not only could this lead to a pill… but possible solutions for male infertility!
One researcher says:
“As we move towards personalized medicine, comparing DNA sequences of infertile men against gene data provided from studies such as this will help clinicians identify the causes underlying unexplained male infertility. If a genetic fault can be traced to a problem within the supporting cells of the testes rather than the sperm cells then it could be possible to use a gene-therapy approach to replace the faulty copy of the gene and restore fertility.”
So fab!
This is still a ways away, but we're excited about the possibilities, none the less!
Science! Science! Science!

Protect Your Balls From Gadgets!

That's right, men! Make sure you're protecting your junk from gadgets, because it could be having a negative effect on how business works down there!!
Nobody has proven for sure in any undeniable way that this happens, so don't crap yourself with worry just yet! Ha
The thing is, more and more studies ARE starting to see a trend between the heat and/or electromagnetic frequencies creating less than stellar sperm. Apparently as of right now, we're adding to that worry with the new idea that WIFI signals being broadcast to/from your devices is frying those little swimmers.
The OTHER thing is, it's easy to avoid, really.
Do you actually need to put your laptop on your lap? What about a pillow? Or a desk?
Do you have to use your cell phone so much?
Nah!
Especially if the idea of having kids is super important to you — it's an easy trade!

Artificial Sperm Grown In Lab

Gross!!
… but also awesome!
Scientists have been trying to create sperm artificially for a long time, and they’ve finally succeeded by using the testicular tissue from mice.
They are hoping to use the same techniques on humans, which could provide solutions to male infertility. It will be especially useful for child cancer patients who are rendered infertile after going through radiation treatment.
Science is amazing. Seriously.

Dutch Scientists Say Men May Be Allergic To Their Own Semen

That's right…we had the same reaction. Let's just say it together.
What…the…hell!?!?!
There's a mysterious phenomenon in which some men come down with a flu-like illness immediately after having an orgasm and Dutch scientists are saying these men may be allergic to their own semen.
If that's true, that's a pretty unfortunate allergy.
The condition is known as post-orgasmic illness sydrome, or POIS and believe it or not, has been on scientists' radars for nearly 10 years
It's not commonly known by patients or doctors because experts suspect many men who experience the post-ejaculate sickness don't come forward and tell their doctor about it out of embarrassment.
Embarrassment? More like, confusion!
Who would ever guess they are allergic to their own semen?
In a study at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, thirty-three men agreed to undergo a skin-prick (no pun intended) allergy test using a diluted form of their own semen and a whopping 88 percent had a reaction indicating an allergic reaction!
Symptoms of POIS include fever, runny nose, extreme fatigue and burning eyes that come on straight after climax and can last up to a week.
This is shocking to say the least, but at least it will encourage men to last longer and maybe learn the art of tantric sex.

Laptops Can Affect Sperm Quality

Yikes!
Recent studies have shown that working with a laptop on your lap will significantly increase the temperature of your nether regions and can affect your sperm quality. Even worse, researchers found that even if you put a pad under the laptop won't help enough to stop the increase in heat.
"I wouldn't say that if someone starts to use laptops they will become infertile," said Dr. Yefim Sheynkin. “But frequent use might contribute to reproductive problems, he said, because "the scrotum doesn't have time to cool down."
Guys, don’t take any risks if you’re trying to have a baby! Put your laptop on a desk!
