Jared got smaller, while Subway got bigger.
The sandwich shop, which prides itself on it’s low cal selections, has surpassed McDonalds as the world’s largest fast food chain with 33,749 restaurants worldwide at the end of the year, compared to the burger joints 32,737 locations.
However, McDonald’s still leads in profits raking in $24 billion a year, compared to Subway’s $15.2 billion revenue.
Subway has achieved it’s rapid growth by opening stores in unconventional locations like an automobile showroom in California, an appliance store in Brazil, a zoo in Taiwan, a Goodwill store in South Carolina, a high school in Detroit and a church in Buffalo, New York.
We’d like to think that if the world is going to be over-saturated with fast food chains, it’s best that it’s the healthiest choice (as far as fast food goes).
