More heartbreaking details are emerging surrounding the untimely death of Aaron Carter.
As you know, the musician was found dead in his home in Lancaster, California on Saturday. Since then disturbing reports have come out as to what exactly went on early that morning — with word of cans of compressed air being found in his home, a refused welfare check by the star himself, and his housekeeper allegedly not allowing medical assistance to enter the home the morning his body was discovered.

It’s a complete tragedy that has left fans heartbroken — and now the songwriter’s friend of over a decade, Gary Madatyan (pictured above), is opening up to ET about what he witnessed. Please note the details are extremely graphic.
Gary explained to the outlet when he arrived at the scene with the singer’s ex, Melanie Martin, the investigation was still fresh:
“When I got there, the house was completely closed. We couldn’t get into the house. The police were doing the investigation and the body was still in the house. After they removed the body from the house, they allowed just a few people to get into the house. We just wanted to go in there and see if any blood or any alcohol or anything was in the house.”
The stylist continued to say there were several aerosol cans in the home — and he alleged the Aaron’s Party singer had been huffing them, though he’d never seen it in person. He also mentioned the disturbing yellow color of the bath water from which his body was found:
“I went to his bedroom, the bedroom was normal. I went to the bathroom where the bathtub was full of water, like, yellowish color.”
So, so sad.
Madatyan admits he and Martin once saw the I Want Candy singer huffing compressed air on one of his frequent Instagram live streams — it was at that moment they knew his addiction was taking a turn for the worse:
“There was a time he was doing it on Instagram. As soon as I saw it, me and Melanie, we got in on a text message saying, ‘This is bad. This is not good.’ We were very worried about him … It was really bad … He looked terrible. He lost so much weight. He was not acting normal. His mind was not there … I heard he’s taking a lot of medication, not specifically illegal drugs, but he was on a lot of medication.”
Just heartbreaking…
Gary doesn’t believe there was any foul play, though. In fact, he said the 34-year-old still had a zest for life ahead of his passing — even though he was alone:
“I personally think he was on medication and had fallen asleep in a bathtub … I think it’s a tragic accident, because he loved life. He had so many plans. Even though he had mental issues, addiction, he loved life … When I got there, the day the incident happened, there were no friends with him … That’s why it’s kind of concerning me what happened. What was going on the day before? We need to find out.”
The musician’s friend revealed he was actually getting better until he started having trouble with his family and began facing a custody battle over his 11-month-old son, Prince:
“I think he was doing OK until this child custody case came in. He was very heartbroken that he couldn’t see his child and had a lot of meetings with his attorneys.”
The stylist also reiterated his point about the former child star being alone — he believes Carter just needed someone to be there for him, but no one could properly help him due to his ongoing struggle with addiction and mental illness. He also recalled encouraging the 7th Heaven alum to check into rehab, but sadly his encouragement didn’t get through to him:
“It was really bad. He couldn’t manage his money. There was nobody there to manage his money. He was financially doing really bad, very bad … He needed someone to be there for him. We had a conversation together. He said ‘What do you want me to do?’ I said ‘Can we please check you into rehab?’ He goes ‘OK, I’ll do it. Just give me a week and I’ll do it. Give me two weeks and I’ll do it.’ It never happened. I think the mental illness he has and the addiction he had I think was controlling his life. Aaron also was very lonely person in his mind.”
So tragic.
When asked if he could speak to the I’m All About You singer one last time, Gary said he would assure him he’s loved — and that his son will always be looked after:
“I love you and I will always be by his son’s side. I will always do my best for him, to give him the most beautiful childhood … I will do everything for him in this world to make him happy.”
Absolutely tear-jerking. Our hearts are with Aaron’s family, friends, and loved ones as they navigate this unimaginable tragedy.
