General Mills has been receiving flak for its new commercial for Cheerios.
In the commercial, an interracial family has an adorable exchange about how Cheerios is good for one’s heart.
Unfortunately, the interracial aspect has inspired a lot of negative and racist comments!
Comments which prevent other companies from making commercials like this one for Cheerios.
Here’s what a consultant said:
“The reality is that, in general, most big companies don’t want to take a lot of risks. The ability for nameless, faceless people to get on the Internet is out there, and companies don’t like it when people yell at them.”
Personally, we think this is a wonderful commercial, and we hope other companies follow Cheerios’ lead and start worrying about good quality rather than how they’re being perceived.
