Anneliese van der Pol may not have made it quite as big as some of her fellow Disney stars, but she was still always “proud” of her work ethic… even in the most “uncomfortable” moments.
The 38-year-old, who most notably appeared as Raven-Symoné’s loveable BFF Chelsea Daniels in That’s So Raven, didn’t experience quite the same career trajectory as some of our other Disney Channel faves after the show’s 2007 conclusion. However, she wants everyone to know she’s “fine.”

While kicking off her brand new podcast Big Name Bitches with fellow Disney child star Christy Carlson Romano on Thursday, Anneliese opened up a waitressing gig she got after her Disney days. Once while working at Salvation Burger and Salvation Taco and Tavern in New York City, she revealed, she actually served Ashley Tisdale… and they didn’t exactly have the Disney camaraderie you’d hope! The Vampires Suck actress coyly remembered:
“I want to say she was lovely, but…”
Annaliese claimed the High School Musical star seemed “uncomfortable” with seeing her there as a server, and instead of sparking up a conversation, went the elusive route:
“She didn’t do anything but she was uncomfortable for me. She was so uncomfortable.”
Christy quickly jumped in, baffled as ever, reassuring Anneliese that she would have given her “the fattest f**king tip” if she would have been in Ashley’s position — and the Bratz star seemingly agreed with the principle of Christy’s remark:
“Well, you would have been like, ‘Oh, my God! Hi!’”
We’re not trying to jump to any conclusions here, but by the sound of that comment, it doesn’t sound like the High School Musical star was friendly at all. Annaliese makes it sound like the Suite Life of Zack and Cody alum was so overcome with secondhand embarrassment that she froze her out! Oof.
It wasn’t just Ashley either. She remembered how during the year she worked at the eatery, “the disappointment, the look, the drop of faces when [people] recognized [her] was truly gut-wrenching.”
But it didn’t affect Anneliese’s confidence in the slightest bit! She recalled thinking, “I’m fine, girl,” adding that she often felt the need to overcompensate when customers recognized her to let them know she was “okay.” She explained:
“I’m actually really happy that I don’t have to audition and am doing something I know I’m good at. I know when I clean a table or bring a meal that I can do that and there won’t be any mistakes. I won’t be judged.”

And hey, she ended up landing on her feet! Anneliese and Raven both reprised their roles as Chelsea and Raven, respectively, when Disney relaunched their old show with 2017’s Raven’s Home, which once again follows the besties as they get into shenanigans — but this time as moms!
What do YOU think of the awkward interaction, Perezcious readers? Should Ashley have made more of an effort to break the tension? Let us know in the comments down below!
