In a new interview with People, the new Bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr. revealed he “fell in love with two women” while looking for love on the ABC dating competition show.

The 36-year-old race-car driver admitted:
“I fell in love with two women, and I didn’t know I was capable of that. I’ve never been in that situation, and it was really hard. And they were two very different women, and that’s what made it even harder.”
The TV vet went on to say that the confusion led to him shedding some tears, saying:
“I didn’t know I was really capable of having strong feelings and being in love with more than one person, but that happened. The end was really difficult for me. And I think that it’s because it’s such a huge decision, and it’s my life. But I’m happy, and I wouldn’t have changed anything.”
Arie dished that he’s “never really dated the same type of person” IRL, which is why he understands his final two ladies were so different.
Of the 29 women vying for his heart, the leading man revealed:
“There were so many different types of women and so many different personalities ├óΓé¼┬ª but there was a common thread in all those relationships. I think I learned that I can be very open and that I can be attracted to a lot of different types of people.”
As for how everything ended up, Arie concluded:
“I’m very happy. I have no regrets. It was an amazing experience.”
