Another week, another episode of The Bachelor.
Arie Luyendyk Jr. and the remaining ladies vying for his heart packed their bags and travel to South Lake Tahoe, Nevada for two one-on-dates and one group date. This was the first episode of the season where we truly wondered if the 36-year-old leading man can carry the entire season once all the crazies are gone — but we’ll let time be the judge of that.
First up was Sienne‘s one-on-one date. The two went parasailing (as the contestants watched via binoculars) before having a dinner later that evening. To be completely honest, the well-traveled Yale graduate is way too good for Arie and 100% too good for reality TV. We said it.

Sienne carried the entire conversation like the queen she is, and we couldn’t tell if Arie was into it or intimidated… but he was QUIET. Anyway, he ended up giving her the rose after she admitted that she was skeptical of the process because “you don’t see love stories with girls that look like me.”

The next day, Chelsea, Krystal, Becca K., Marikh, Ashley, Jacqueline, Jenna, Tia, Kendall, Lauren, Brittany, and Caroline were gifted the opportunity to go eat bugs and drink urine in the woods with Arie. Yippee.
They got survivalist tips from a retired Green Beret Combat Commander in the U.S. Army Special Forces before they split into three groups and somehow found their way to a hot springs. Classic Bachelor move.
While in the hot spring, Arie puts his arm around Krystal — who naturally reads wayyy too much into the situation.
Speaking of Krystal, she spent the entire day in interviews talking shit about the other women. As you can see her insecurities come to the forefront, she wonders aloud:
“I’m not sure what I’m going to say [to Arie]. But whatever I do, I have a feeling it’s going to be perfect.”
Later on the group date, Krystal confronts Tia and Caroline about… we’re still not really sure… and you can see the women in the house are starting to lose their patience with her.
Tia ends up getting the group date rose after a mini-breakdown about how hard this process is. Works every time.
The last one-on-one date went to Bekah M. The two went horseback riding before making out a ton in a hot tub. You can tell there’s an obvious physical connection, and later at dinner Arie stumbled around trying to figure out if she’s ready for something more.
Cue: Bekah revealing her age. She’s 22. He’s 36.
Upon hearing the news, Arie can’t hide is concern that she may not be in the place to settle down, telling her:
“I’m 36 ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ things have just slowed down so much for me. I enjoy waking up with the sun, which I never enjoyed five years ago. I’m in a different place than I was in my late 20s ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ so my fear with you is that you might be where I was in my 20s. I think it’s a valid fear.”
He later said in an interview:
“Twenty-two years old is so damn young. I’m just thinking of all the problems that could come up. I could see myself falling in love with her, but I also don’t want to get through this whole thing, be at the end, and then afterwards have her realize, ├óΓé¼╦£I’m not really ready for marriage.’ At 22, does she really know? I think we might be too far apart. I just want to settle down, I want to have a family. I want to share that with somebody. I’m not here for a 22-year-old girlfriend. I’m here to find a wife. Now that I know that she’s 22, everything is flipped upside down, and I don’t know what to do.”
Regardless of all these doubts, he gives her the rose anyway. Dun dun dun.
There wasn’t a rose ceremony last night, but Krystal did manage to annoy everyone one last time by pulling Arie aside for a pointless chat right before he started calling names. Insecurities are a bitch.
Anyway, he sent Caroline and Brittany packing, leaving 12 women left in the house.
