Betty White is a huge animal lover and zoo enthusiast.
She has a new book coming out called Betty & Friends: My Life at the Zoo.
In it, she says she loves good zoos but that protesting and marching aren’t enough to turn a bad zoo into one.

“I was really kind of appalled that a city like Los Angeles had such a poor zoo├óΓé¼┬ª I├óΓé¼Γäóve never been a big demonstrator from the outside criticizing. I├óΓé¼Γäód much rather get inside and help. So I started to work with the zoo and got hooked, and they haven├óΓé¼Γäót been able to get rid of me since.”

While many groups, including PETA, feel that zoos are cruel, offering only the basic needs for animals, Betty feels differently.

“Many people get very irate, say, ├óΓé¼╦£Animals should be in their natural habitat, they shouldn├óΓé¼Γäót be in captivity.├óΓé¼Γäó Well, in the meantime, we├óΓé¼Γäóve taken much of that natural habitat away. It doesn├óΓé¼Γäót exist anymore.”

If you’d like to hear more of Betty’s words of wisdom, you can check it out at any major book store.
