Uh oh!!!
The Oregon Potato Company issued a recall of more than 55,689 pounds of blueberries in the US back on February 12. However, as of Tuesday, the warning has been upgraded to the “highest risk level” as the FDA says there is a “reasonable probability of death” if the fruit is consumed! OMG!

The berries, which have been sold in Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, and Michigan, are reportedly believed to be contaminated with Listeria, a foodborne bacteria that causes a serious infection known as listeriosis. Listeria infections start with flu-like symptoms, including fever, muscle aches, nausea, and headaches. According to the CDC, it “can be especially harmful for some people,” including the elderly, newborns, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems. How scary!
Per the FDA, the recall applies to 30-pound cases and 1,400-pound totes that were not sold in stores but distributed to customers who were expecting the delivery. They further noted:
“The berries are packaged in a polyethylene bag within a corrugated 30-pound case or packaged in a polyethylene liner within a Gaylord 1,400-pound tote. Lot codes on the 30-pound cases are: 2055 B2, 2065 B1, and 2065 B3. Lot codes on 1,400-pound totes are: 3305 A1 and 3305 B1. Expiration dates or best-by dates on all the cases and totes range from July 2027 to November 2027.”
The FDA advised those who received the blueberries not to eat them and get rid of them immediately. At this time, no illnesses have been reported from the batch.
Let’s hope it stays that way! Check your blueberries and throw them away if you’re affected!
Ugh, this is exactly why we value strong food safety regulations. According to 2025 and 2026 reports, FDA regulations have been loosened under the Trump administration. It is currently unclear whether any of the regulations loosened led to this specific recall, but critics have had their concerns.
