Nobody can stop Coco!
Disney and Pixar‘s new release won the box office on Black Friday itself, putting up $18.6 million from nearly 4,000 theaters across North America, and now that the full Thanksgiving weekend is upon us, we can report it’s pushed its way out to an even bigger lead at the box office!!
Embraced by both critics and viewers, Coco can now boast itself as having one of the six best five-day Thanksgiving holiday openings EVER, not adjusting for inflation!!!

That debut will be right around $69 million – $70 million when it’s all said and done this evening — a HUGE showing for the popular film centered on the story of a 12-year-old boy around the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead.
In fact, the opening weekend has been so strong for Coco, that it’s already up there with Frozen, Moana, The Good Dinosaur, and Tangled as one of the best Thanksgiving openings ever. Not bad company!!!
Holding steady at number two this weekend has been Justice League, which debuted a week ago and is projected to do right around $60 million over the five-day holiday, putting its domestic total through two weeks up at $173 million. Not too shabby!!
The feel-good movie Wonder remains strong in third and drawing families very well, and it should gross about $33 million in total for the Thanksgiving holiday — no doubt boosted in its second week here by an A+ CinemaScore rating.
Some flicks are struggling at the box office, though; Denzel Washington stars in Roman J. Israel, Esq. right now, and it just can’t quite get off the ground, sitting at just $6.5 million from 1,648 theaters over the five-day weekend period.

Call Me By Your Name has opened to the specialty box office and hasn’t been put out to a full nationwide audience yet, though it has ben posting a big per-screen average — $95,000 to $100,000 — that reflects its critical acclaim in the few theaters it has been shown thus far.
