The mother of the slow food movement, chef Alice Waters, is concerned about school lunches and the quality of the food served to students. Considering the most commonly served meal to students is chicken fingers and french fries, no one can deny there is a problem.
Waters and her Chez Panisse Foundation envision “a school curriculum and school lunch program where growing, cooking, and sharing food at the table gives students the knowledge and values to build a humane and sustainable future.”
