Christina Applegate Makes Heartbreaking Statement -- She Thinks It Would Be Better For Her Family 'If I Weren't Here'

Christina Applegate made heartbreaking comments amid her brutal ongoing battle with multiple sclerosis.

During a new episode of her MeSsy podcast, the 52-year-old actress told her co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler about a recent trip with her 13-year-old daughter, Sadie, to visit her husband Martyn LeNoble‘s family in the Netherlands. While talking about the vacation, Christina got super candid about how much she felt like a “burden” to her child due to her disease. And here is the moment that broke our hearts. She admitted she often thinks it would be better for her family if she “wasn’t here” anymore. Oh, Christina. No. She said:

“I’ve often thought it would be easier on everyone if I wasn’t here, you know? That’s a thought. Like, wouldn’t it be so much easier and not a burden on my daughter who was on vacation and watching her mom sleep all day?”

Christina shared that it is even a struggle for her to sit through a film with her daughter at times due to her condition:

“And me not being able to go with her to the Barbie movie and stuff because I can’t sit through a movie because my legs hurt too much. Just things like that. I think, ‘What is this doing to her?’ And that’s where my heart breaks constantly.”

But during the vacation abroad, Christina was determined to make the most of their time together. At one point, the Dead to Me alum said, she suddenly had a “strange superpower” take over her that pushed her to walk without her cane — and she proceeded to walk around a lot! In fact, Christina walked 9,000 steps a day during the trip! That was an incredible feat for Christina, who explained on the podcast that she hasn’t “gone over maybe 2,000 steps in a day” in the past two years! Wow! We are very proud of her! And Sadie undoubtedly will cherish every single moment of this special vacation she got to spend with her mom.

While the family had a “great” vacation, the increase in activity took a toll on Christina. Her sudden burst of energy was completely gone, and her body shut down by the time they got home. As Christina rested, the Anchorman star realized how much Sadie “missed” her when her daughter came to check up on her. She recalled:

“She came in last night, I’d been sleeping since like 4 o’clock or something. Because since I’ve been home, my body’s been like, ‘Yeah, f**k you. It was fun while it lasted while you were walking, now we’re gonna shut you down.’ I came home and she came in and I was half asleep, and she just kissed me on my forehead and said ‘I love you,’ and walked out. And I just started crying when she left because I was like, ‘She just missed me.’ I had been asleep for five hours and wasn’t there for her, to make her dinner or do anything. I was just out.”

We continue to admire how honest Christine has been through her MS journey — no matter how devastating it may be. Reactions, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments.
