When someone puts you down, you’ve gotta stick up for yourself!
And that’s exactly what Fiona Apple is doing!
The singer-songwriter was heckled by a voice in the crowd at a Portland concert earlier this month. The fan yelled at Fiona:
“Get healthy! We want to see you in 10 years!”
Apple, who has been continually questioned about her weight, stopped the show and reportedly broke down crying!
Now, Fiona is responding to the outburst and how hard it affected her to hear those words shouted at her. She admitted:
“She hurt my feelings. I don├óΓé¼Γäót think what I look like is relevant. And by the way, this whole ‘unhealthy’ thing has me baffled. It├óΓé¼Γäós really confusing to me why anyone would have an opinion about that… It├óΓé¼Γäós really disappointing.”
No matter what anyone else’s opinion might be, Fiona insists that she is in good health. She continued on the topic of her body image, saying:
“It├óΓé¼Γäós a sensitive subject because it├óΓé¼Γäós not something that should be talked about, because there is nothing wrong with me. I├óΓé¼Γäóm healthy and I shouldn├óΓé¼Γäót even have to say any of that. What makes me unhealthy and puts me in danger is that kind of scrutiny itself.”
Absolutely correct!
If you’re truly concerned about Fiona’s well-being, why would you holler at her in the middle of a performance? What good does that do??
Fiona, just keep on singing. Your true fans come to your shows to listen to you, not ridicule you! And true fans are all that matters!
