American Kennel Club Not Doing Its Job To Help Protect Dogs!

With the American Kennel Club’s National Championship dog show approaches, there are many questions the AKC must answer.
For starters…why have they been so negligent in their duties to protect America’s dogs?
The Humane Society of the United States is imploring the AKC to help take a stand against animal abuse.
According to the HSUS, the American Kennel Club is not protecting dogs, and over-breeding and puppy mills still dominate pet sales in this country.
For instance, one of the AKC’s “Champion” breeders has been shut down as a puppy mill.
So the Humane Society hopes the country’s largest dog registry will do its part to help close the book on puppy mills.
The HSUS’ president and CEO Wayne Pacelle states:

The Humane Society of the United States urges the AKC to live up to its promise to protect the health and well-being of all dogs by supporting clear and enforceable welfare standards for dogs at commercial breeding facilities.
The AKC has opposed more than 90 bills and proposals that would have implemented common-sense protections for dogs and puppies in puppy mills, and it’s time to turn that record around.

The AKC has not responded to the Humane Society’s plea and they continue to block legislation geared to protect dogs from puppy mils.
Sad…we know you can do better! Help dogs in need, AKC!
