Katy Perry Is 5 Weeks Sober Amid ‘Pact’ With Fiancé Orlando Bloom!

Trying something new!

Katy Perry just revealed she and her fiancé Orlando Bloom have agreed to go sober, at least temporarily!

While attending a curated cocktail event at NYC’s Mister Paradise on Monday, the American Idol judge told People she has stopped drinking alcohol amid a “pact” with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor. She shared:

“I’ve been sober for five weeks today.”

While this is a short-term thing for now, she has plans to quit drinking for good, the singer explained:

“I’ve been doing a pact with my partner [fiancé Orlando Bloom] and I want to quit.”

Per the outlet, she jokingly pretended to cry while saying this. Her co-star Luke Bryan then acknowledged how hard it must’ve been to be at a cocktail event, and he asked if she was going to give up during the party. The Teenage Dream artist was quick to say no, insisting:

“No, girl! I can’t cave. I made a promise. Three months.”

Luckily for the performer, she already has a trick up her sleeve to get through this detox. Last year, the 38-year-old launched a line of non-alcoholic apéritifs known as De Soi. During the event, she shared her favorite cocktail recipe with the crowd while using her brand’s citrus-flavored drink called Golden Hour.

While it’s unclear what led the couple to make this pact, it sure sounds like the co-parents of 2-year-old daughter Daisy Dove are committed to making a change together. This announcement comes just weeks after Bloom opened up about the pair’s sometimes “challenging” relationship, telling Flaunt Magazine:

“We’re in two very different pools. Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands. Sometimes things are really, really, really challenging.”

The couple has been candid about their struggles in the past, including a brief breakup one year into their relationship in 2017 that caused Katy to deeply struggle with her mental health. After they reunited later the same year, they’ve been committed to working through the complications that arise in their relationship. Still, it’s tough sometimes, Orlando told Flaunt:

“I won’t lie. We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity, [but] I think we’re both aware of how blessed we are to have uniquely connected in the way that we did at the time that we did, and there’s definitely never a dull moment.”

Hopefully, a sober challenge like this is something that pulls them together! Thoughts? Let us know in the comments!
