Lauer Returning To Work Soon

As we mentioned earlier this week, Today show co-host Matt Lauer flipped over his bike’s handlebars after a deer jumped in front of him. The results were a separated shoulder and surgery to repair.
Well, as of Tuesday morning after his surgery, Matt seems to be doing a bit better, though still “a little groggy.”
Today show exec Jim Bell added that Matt was “shaking it off like a trouper,” and expects him to return to the show before the end of the week. “I’m hopeful if not [Wednesday] by Thursday or Friday at the latest ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ so our national nightmare will soon be over,” he said jokingly.
Give the guy some time to properly recuperate!
As for Lauer, he was actually given the choice of postponing the surgery to see if the injury would heal on its own. Though Bell claims Matt “said this was the right call, his doctors told him that. As you probably know, golf is very important to Matt. He didn’t want to face the prospect of swinging a golf club in pain for the rest of his days.”
Let’s hope Lauer gets the rest he needs to have a speedy recovery.
But on the flipside, we’re sure the show’s execs are secretly loving this. Talk about a ton of free media exposure which should result in high ratings once Lauer returns!
