Mark Salling's Family Reported The 'Isolated' Celeb Missing Before Apparent Suicide

Mark Salling
This is just really awful all around.
As we reported, Mark Salling was found dead this morning after an apparent suicide. The Glee star was a month away from facing sentencing after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a family member alerted authorities that the 35-year-old was missing at 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
Emergency dispatch audio obtained by The Blast described Salling, who was last seen around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, as “suffering from depression and [being] suicidal.” Cops noted he was wearing a black long sleeve shirt, black pants, and driving a black Infinity. He was later found dead at 9 a.m. near a riverbed in Sunland, California.

In the days leading up to his shocking death, sources said the troubled actor lived an isolated life in seclusion.
An insider explained to People:

“He was close with his family, but as far as friends go — he maybe had those acquaintances he communicated with every once in a while, but he pretty much isolated himself. He didn’t really have a relationship with too many people.”

The source went on to describe Mark as a “charismatic” guy who was “never really into drugs”:

“The Mark I knew was charismatic, he was funny, he was musically talented — he was a really cool person … This other dark side of him was completely shocking to everyone close to him. Close people who didn’t talk to him are still sad about it. They loved him because of the person he was before all of this happened. There’s a level of sadness with everyone, but the sadness is from afar.”

It sounds like Salling’s former pals were already mourning the Mark they thought they knew before the child porn confession — even before his death.
Another source, who admittedly hadn’t spoken with the musician in a while, added that he cut off (or was cut off from) everyone except his immediate family and roommate. She revealed:

“His career was off the boil, though; he was kind of the quarterback that peaked in high school, still dining out on Glee. Eventually, though, he started to focus on his music, which seemed like a good thing. That’s where he should have been focused to start with. But then the child porn thing came out, and people were so shocked. ├óΓé¼┬ª It quickly started to become clear it was real, and then the few people still around him iced him out.”

But before everything went down, Mark seemed to be Mr. Popular:

“Mark was fun, he had the charisma — sure, some was because he was on a show, but he also had that X factor you know? He always had girls around him.”

We guess nothing is ever as it seems.
