While Letourneau and Fualaau consider themselves an average couple with two teenage daughters, most of the public is still trying to understand how a 34-year-old woman could engage in a sexual and emotional relationship with a sixth grader.
In a very matter of fact way, the Washington state resident opened up about the bizarre couple’s first sexual encounter, revealing:

“The incident was a late night, and it didn’t stop with a kiss. And I thought that it would, and it didn’t.”

When Mary Kay was asked if she felt any remorse or guilt over the initial encounter, the former teacher responded:

“I loved him very much, and I kind of thought, ‘Why can’t it ever just be a kiss?'”
