NBA Star Matt Barnes Breaks His Silence About His 'Love Triangle Showdown' With Former Teammate Derek Fisher -- What REALLY Happened?!

matt barnes talks love triangle fight
Talk about a messy love triangle!
It was recently reported that NBA star Matt Barnes aggressively confronted New York Knicks head coach Derek Fisher at his estranged wife Gloria Govan‘s home over the weekend. It’s said that physical altercation was initiated by Barnes and escalated as the fight allegedly transitioned from the backyard to the kitchen, and eventually ended up in the front of the house.

Yikes!
One source revealed:

“Barnes went crazy. He got in his car and went to the house and went after Fisher. Matt then drove down there to beat the s├óΓé¼ΓÇ£t out of him.”

Whoa! However, the Memphis Grizzlies forward has since clarified what EXACTLY went down that night. Apparently, the basketball player simply went to his wife’s home to check on his 6-year-old twins, Carter and Isaiah, NOT to beat up Fisher.
He noted:

“I’m like, first of all, why are you still up? It’s like 10 o’clock at night. So I text back, ‘I love you and I miss you too.’ Then I FaceTimed him. I’m just like, ‘Hey, what’s up buddy?’
Now, Carter is like the rambunctious one. He’s always jumping off the walls. And when I saw his face, he was just sitting there, and I knew something was wrong. I was like, ‘What’s wrong, Carter?’ and he shook his head, ‘No.’ Then he lays his head down on the couch, puts a pillow in front of his face and says, ‘Mommy’s friend Derek is here.’ This wasn’t a phone call. We were on FaceTime. I could see him and the look on his face.”

Well that makes sense. However, it appears that when he arrived to check up on his little ones that’s when things escalated.
We can’t blame a concerned dad for wanting to look out for his kids who he claims were uncomfortable with their mom’s man-friend being at the house — we just wish it hadn’t turned violent since there were children in the home.
Regardless, Barnes refused to comment on the specifics of the incident. Oof!
He continued:

“I can’t believe people think I was some maniac driving 95 miles and listening to Tupac to go beat somebody up. No. I live 15 minutes away, and I was going over to check on my kids because they seemed uncomfortable. That was my main reason for going over there.”

Perhaps now that his side is out in the open, the drama can settle and the former flames can make an attempt at being friendly exes??
What’s unfortunate about the entire situation is that the Fisher and Barnes were once friends when they played for the Lakers together between 2010 and 2012.
But, it seems that the old teammate’s friendship is officially OVER as the 35-year-old shared:

“We were close. We were friends. Some things have happened to change that. It is what it is.”

It’ll be inneresting to see what happens next for this dramatic trio. Hopefully nothing too crazy.
Fingers crossed!
